Have you ever wanted to see how fine mechanical timepieces are made? Have you wondered how a concert grand piano is assembled? Would a tutorial on the building of a wooden boat interest you? If the answer to any of these questions is "yes" then you should tune in to Made in America a popular show on the Travel Channel hosted by John Ratzenberger (Cheers!, Toy Story, etc.).
On Tuesday, January 9, 2007 the show, which features American companies making high-quality products, will focus on America's premier watch company, RGM. The host and crew of the show visited RGM's workshop recently in their quest to showcase the best of American craftsmanship. Company founder & owner Roland Murphy and his staff welcomed Mr. Ratzenberger, familiarized him with the RGM philosophy, their product lines and facilities. During the tour, Mr. Ratzenberger was able to witness the assembly of one of RGM's newest pieces: the Reference 222 which is powered by a vintage American-made pocket watch movement. He was also given the opportunity to partially decorate a movement with guilloché using the vintage rose engine with which RGM engraves some of their dials, movements and cases.

During the show's filming, each of RGM's watchmakers was involved in the regulation and assembly of a special personalized piece which was presented to a surprised Mr. Ratzenberger. He was grateful and clearly impressed with RGM's products and operation--so much so that he purchased additional items before departing. Roland Murphy and his staff invite you to tune in January 9 to experience your own visit to RGM and learn more about American watchmaking today.

RGM Watch Company is proud to be selected as a result of Made in America's quest to find an American company producing fine wristwatches. As keepers of the flame for the American tradition of fine watchmaking and its related decorative arts, they are honored to be recognized and associated with the show and other fine companies. In addition to RGM, John Ratzenberger's Made in America has showcased such reputable firms as Steinway (pianos), Chris-Craft (yachts), Allen Edmonds (footwear) and Sam Adams (beer). Makers of such diverse products as Ferris wheels, rubber bands, and pacemakers have also been the subject of Made in America segments.
